Election Day

As I walked into Berkley's City Hall this morning at 7:40 am, I was completely impressed with how many people showed up to vote. Although Berkley is a small town, with only about 15,000 people and 6 places to vote, the line went out of the building, and continued down to the corner of the next street. Little did my dad and I know that the line was this long when we decided to "beat the crowd." That's what we get for parking on the other side of the building, which concealed the line.

After an hour and 45 minutes, it was finally my turn to vote. This was my first presidential election where I could vote and I wanted to make sure that I did everything correctly. I looked over my ballot three or four times, just to make sure I filled in enough bubbles when I had the option of more than one candidate, and the cute little old lady accepting the finished ballots asked me if I wanted a sticker. I said yes, of course.

I didn't hear the crowd talking about either candidate, they were all more concerned with how long the wait was and how they would all be late for work.

Overall, I enjoyed my voting experience and can't wait to watch all the coverage tonight.
